Tension as Ondo students shut down Akure, Ilesha highway over ASUU strike

Hundreds of students in tertiary institutions in Ondo have been led in protest by the National Association of University Students, NAUS, to shut down the Akure-Ilesa highway.

The blockade, in response to the on-going ASUU strike, paralysed traffic along the major road on Wednesday.

Vehicles and passengers on their way to and from Abuja, Lagos, and Benin were stranded.

After waiting for hours, motorists who could no longer bear the blockade took alternative but longer travelling routes.

He protesters said to keep up the agitation until ASUU calls off the strike.

Shittu Folarin, Vice Chairman of NAUS, Ondo State Chapter, said students will ensure that “this is ASUU’s final step.”
