2023: Nigerians react as Peter Obi dumps PDP, presidential ambition

Reactions have trailed the resignation of Peter Obi as member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential.

Thisweekng had reported that Obi had on Wednesday announced his resignation from the opposition party.

He said recent developments within the party made it practically impossible to continue participating and making constructive contributions.

“Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we each make profound sacrifices towards rescuing our country. My commitment to rescuing Nigeria remains firm, even if the route differs,” Obi had said.

Reacting, some Nigerians on social media said Obi left the party due to the crisis in Anambra PDP and corruption in the party.

Here are some comments below;

@GoziconC, “PDP have been using and dumping us since 1999, but Ndigbo are too dumb to ascertain the fact that Buhari and the APC are not their enemy. Our enemy is the PDP! We have been dumped again.”

@stdennis02, “Unfortunately, most youth shouting “we will vote for Peter Obi in any political party” will still end up voting for PDP or APC in 2023.
The real problem is that people hardly vote for third force, no matter how good the candidate is.
Now, the best option for Obi is to join NNPP.”

“You guys are merely carried away by passion. I live in the North and know Obi needs either PDP/APC to get reasonable votes in the North,in addition to his Southern strength.
Do you think his supporters’ votes are enough?
I am a big fan of Obi since 2006 and want him in Aso Rock.”

@DanielRegha, “Peter Obi u shouldn’t have resigned from the PDP, especially now that the primary election is just around the corner; There’s no political party strong enough to rival the APC which is why many hoped u will be the PDP flag bearer. U should’ve waited till after the primaries.”

@iamAbode, “Now it is time to form the third force. APGA should merge with SDP (west) and NNPP(north) with Peter Obi at the head of Ticket with Kwakwanso as VP. Promise SW senate presidency.”

@Pacheals, “Since Peter obi is out of the game, I think it’s a wise idea the south and east should vote in for Wike. And if Peter obi gets into another political party, I don’t think he would have the crowd to have the majority vote during the election. For me, Wike is the best choice.”

@ezewamama. “This time around you will see and experience how much an impact MR Peter Obi and how much the masses really long for good governance. Party names don’t matter anymore. Just let MR Peter Obi declare his new party an watch out how he takes that seat. E go do you like film aswr”
