An unconfirmed report has it that the governor of the central bank of Nigeria has been sacked by President Buhari.
The news has gone viral and already trending on the micro blogging platform, twitter. The news has also generated a lot of reactions from Nigerians on social media.
While some are saying the news is not true, some are already happy for the alleged removal of Emefiele.
You will recall that Emefiele flouted so many laws by declaring his interest to occupy the highest seat of power as a political appointee and wanted to remain as CBN governor without resigning his position to pursue his ambition.
After a public outcry by well meaning Nigerians, calling for his resignation shortly after a group of some faceless farmers purchased the N100m form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for him and feigning ignorance of it, Emefiele would later approach a Federal High Court in Abuja to prevent the country’s electoral body Independent National Electoral Commission and the board of CBN rom disqualifying him from running for president.
Having failed to get the court to give judgment in his favour, Emefiele approached a Delta State High Court that eventually granted him his wish.
But in a curious twist, he withdrew the suit he filed against INEC and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

His monetary policies are not friendly to entrepreneurs. It only favors the elite to enrich thier pockets.I don’t understand why Buhari Kept him this long. He should have been suspended a long time ago
@IykeTweets_:I’m hearing just one man stole 435 billion naira of Rivers funds. A whopping 435billion Now that CBN governor has been sacked, we’ll soon hear how much he made away with & since he had an intention of contesting for president, I wonder if he has a plan B This is heart breaking.
@codedtopzy: CBN governor should not only be sacked but killed,i think a law needs to be passed in our constitution that anyone who steal a penny from the country funds should be killed
@Omojuwa: As at the last time I checked, the President cannot sack the CBN Governor. I’d love to be corrected by those who know better.
@RajiDraj: The President cannot singlehandedly sack the governor of Central Bank. It has to be with the approval of two-third majority of the members of the Senate. Meanwhile, the president can suspend the CBN governor pending the total approval. No credible source on the current news yet.
