Christopher Ohizu, the sole administrator of Ideato North Local Government Area in Imo State, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen late on January 19, and they also set fire to his home.
Witnesses said that the assailants shot at the politician’s home before dragging him away while still suffering from a gunshot wound. A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is also said to have been kidnapped by the gunmen during the attack.
“We don’t know what is happening again, people are running away, we are tired of what is happening here, they shot the sole administrator and took him away, we have complained several times and nothing is being done” an eyewitness said
This comes less than a week after an attack on the Akokwa village in the Ideato North LGA house of Coalition of United Political Parties spokesperson Ugochinyere Imo resulted in three fatalities and the destruction of roughly 33 vehicles.
To this development, the state police command has not yet responded.
