The governor of the Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN Mr. Godwin Emefiele has made it clear that the deadline to deposit the old naira note still remains January, 31st 2023. Amid the scarcity of the new naira notes.

In a video released by the Apex Bank on their verified Twitter handle. Emefiele said he doesn’t have good news for those who want the deadline shifted, and he apologized for that. Emefiele gave the reason that citizens had 100 days to deposit their money in the bank and all measures were taken for banks to be open to receiving all deposits.

Nigerians on Twitter are having mixed reactions over the deadline, some are of the opinion, that the date should be shifted, due to the non availability if the new naira note while others are saying that the deadline should be made sacrosanct.
