Mr Godwin Emefiele has met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, January 29, due to the rising calls for an extension of the deadline for exchanging old naira notes for new ones as Tuesday, January 31, approaches.
The CBN governor traveled to Daura, the president’s country home in Katsina, according to Tribune, for a meeting with Buhari.
As of Wednesday, January 25, Buhari has been in Katsina for the commissioning of projects initiated and finished by Governor Aminu Masari’s government.
A meeting between Buhari and the governor of the central bank reportedly took place today at 11 am in Buhari’s private residence.
It is only 48 hours left before the deadline for exchanging the naira notes, and it was obvious what the governor of the CBN had suggested to the president during his visit.
It was obvious that after the meeting, Emefiele got approval from President Buhari to extend the deadline for the naira cash swap
