Reno Omokri on new Naira notes: The CBN Deadline Is Like Judgment Day

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) timetable for phase-out of the old naira notes has been likened by Reno Omokri, a former presidential advisor to former President Goodluck Jonathan, to judgment day.

On October 26, 2022, CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele stated that new naira notes would be launched in place of the existing 200, 500, and 1,000 notes.

Emefiele also set Tuesday, January 31, 2023, as the deadline for phasing out the impacted naira notes, so that the new Naira note will be in full circulation

The apex bank sent a reminder to Nigerians as part of its commitment to the deadline, insisting that the January 31, 2023 deadline remained sacrosanct as far as the phase-out of the old versions of the redesigned notes is concerned.

As a result, Emefiele urged all Nigerians to return all of the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes they had in their possession to their deposit banks for replacement before the deadline.

On Saturday, Reno Omokri linked the CBN deadline to judgment day on his official Twitter account.

He claimed that if Nigerians do not exchange their old naira notes by January 31st, they will become worthless.

He claimed that if at the day of judgment, somebody has not turned from their sins, then no amount of money on earth will be able to purchase them eternal life.

God will never put off the day of judgment for you, he continued.

Reno Omokri wrote,

“This CBN deadline is like Judgment Day. If by January 31st you have not changed your Naira, it will be useless.

“If by Judgment Day you have not repented, your Earthly wealth will be useless to buy you eternal life. And God will NEVER postpone Judgment Day for you.”
