Abuja, FCT – A federal high court in Abuja fined Kenneth Udeze, the ousted national chairman of Action Alliance (AA), N1 million for objecting to Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima’s nomination.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, Udeze has filed a lawsuit in the name of AA against Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, and Shettima, Tinubu’s running partner.
In her ruling, Justice Binta Nyako argued that the plaintiff lacked locus standi to bring the lawsuit.
The judge claimed in her decision that the lawsuit was brought by a “busybody” who intended to squander the court’s time.
Udeze sued the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC, Tinubu, and Shettima as the first through fourth respondents in the original summons through his attorney, Kalu Kalu Agu.
Udeze filed the lawsuit in AA’s name, acting as the plaintiff. Invoking Section 35 of the Electoral Act of 2022, the expelled national chairman of the AA asked the court to nullify Tinubu’s declaration of Shettima as his running mate.
He insisted that Shettima consented to his nomination in more than one constituency for the next election.
