Buhari Presides Over Council Of State Meeting (Photos)

The National Council of State meeting is now being presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

According to Thisweekng, the meeting is taking place in the Presidential Villa’s Council Chambers in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo who joined remotely, Yakubu Gowon, and Goodluck Jonathan are present, as well as Abdulsalami Abubakar .

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, are all present in the chamber as well. Alfa Belgore and Mahmud Muhammad, two former Chief Justices of the Federation, are also in attendance.

Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Darius Ishaku of Taraba, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Babagana Zulum are among the governors present (Borno).

Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Simon Lalong (Plateau), and the deputy governors of Nasarawa and Bauchi states are among the other governors who are virtually present.

The meeting was also attended by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

All the Service Chiefs and Heads of security agencies were also physically present.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu; the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, are expected to brief the council on preparations for the elections. and is expected to brief the council on the preparations ahead of the 2023 elections.
