Bola Tinubu’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has refuted the perception that her husband is wealthy, which was held by many. Bola Tinubu is the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress.
The former Lagos senator disclosed how she begged the wife of her husband’s running mate, Nana Shettima, for N2 million during a town hall meeting with people with disabilities on Thursday in Abuja.
According to Oluremi, who attributes her husband’s fame to his compassion and charity, he does not have the kind of wealth that most people assume.
According to her, many of the people supporting her husband for the 2023 presidential bid aren’t doing it for money but they believe he can give them hope in the current trying times in the country.
She said: “When they say he has the money of the world, I just wonder. Mrs Shettima knows that I begged her just to give me N2m yesterday.
“Asiwaju’s secret is not about money, contrary to what people think, he is a very compassionate man and very generous. There is nothing he can’t give.
“I remember after he finished as governor, we used to have this staff at home; if you needed anything, he would say go and meet so and so―that is who he is.
“The people you see in rallies are not after money. They believe someone can give them hope in these trying times.”
