Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the train disaster in Lagos that also killed members of the state government’s BRT employees.
In a statement, Adeboye expressed his sorrow and begged for those injured in the accident to heal quickly and for their souls to find rest.
The clergyman also reiterated what many have said that that accident could have been avoided.
He said, “We are saddened by the report of the unfortunate Bus/ Train accident of Thursday, 9th March 2023 at the PWD rail crossing, off the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Sogunle, Lagos State.
“I, personally, feel grieved by the accident that could have been avoided and my heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as those who sustained one degree of injury or the other.
“I pray that the Almighty God will comfort those in sorrow and speedy recovery of the injured.”
The clergyman also prayed for the government and people of Lagos State that such a tragedy would not happen again.
“Kindly note that our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives, and the entire leadership and people of Lagos State in this period of their grief and loss,” he added.
Lagos State commissioner for health Prof. Akin Abayomi said on Friday that 32 survivors of the accident have been discharged from different hospitals in the state.
Abayomi noted that the accident recorded 102 casualties altogether.
