Adeyanju names Nigeria’s best-ever president

A socio-political activist, Deji Adeyanju on Tuesday said former leader Olusegun Obasanjo “remains the best president Nigeria ever had since 1999”.

According to Adeyanju, the indicators which showed there were genuine developments in Nigeria when Obasanjo governed, are glaring.

Obasanjo remains the best president Nigeria ever had since 1999. The indices of development are there for everyone.

“Obasanjo remains the best president Nigeria ever had since 1999. The indices of development are there for everyone,” he wrote on his verified Facebook page.

Obasanjo has been in the news lately following his endorsement of Peter Obi, presidential flag-bearer of the Labour Party for the 2023 election.

The 85-year-old served as Nigeria’s head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as its president from 1999 to 2007. Ideologically a Nigerian nationalist, he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 1999 to 2015.

He has been described as one of the great figures of the second generation of post-colonial African leaders.
