Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, has outlined Bola Tinubu’s prior attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Sunday by Phrank Shaibu, Atiku’s special assistant for public communications, said he was not surprised that Tinubu disagreed with Buhari on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s currency redesign strategy (CBN).
According to the former vice president, Tinubu’s activities in the past and present have demonstrated that he has no regard for President Buhari or his office.
According to Atiku, Tinubu was personally urged by Buhari and a few Northern governors to let Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to run for re-election in 2018, but the president was publicly humiliated as a result.
He also claimed that Tinubu had arranged the ouster of John Oyegun, the former governor of Edo State, and had worked to have one of his supporters, Adams Oshiomhole, become the party’s national chairman.
Atiku said with the help of Oshiomhole, Tinubu undermined several governors in their states and went on to suspend them including Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State.
The PDP flagbearer also questioned the mental capacity of his APC counterpart to lead Nigeria amid the gaffes and slips at the many APC campaign rallies.
Atiku stated that the country was facing monumental challenges and needed a focused leader, not a man who constantly needs his handlers to explain his unintelligible message to Nigerians.
